The Mastrou is the name given 130 years ago to the steam train going to Lamastre ! Running along the whole 28kms of the line, this historical journey along the Valley of the river Doux is one to remember.
This steam train ride takes you along the Doux Gorges to Boucieu le Roi called “ the village of a thousand secrets”. The village, overhanging a large part of the river as it twists and turns, is the old capital of Haut-Vivarais with its name originating from Philippe le Bel.
This diesel train is the ideal way to get to one of the best markets in the county of Ardèche, avoiding the problem of driving along winding roads and parking. Fill your baskets with traditional pork meats, beautifully ripe fruits, chestnuts, picodon goat cheese and other local produce.
